New Music Review: Seether - Holding Onto Strings Better Left To Fray

It's been far too long since I did an album review, and this one in particular should have been posted back when the album was actually released, but for those who haven't already heard it, this is a chance for you to learn more about the new sound of Seether.

Shaun Morgan, lead singer of Seether, has one of the most identifiable voices in modern rock, a fact that has only become more apparent now that he’s fully sober. For those of you thinking the lack of alcohol fueled rock will destroy the sound of the band, you’re sorely mistaken. Seether is back with a vengeance and possibly has more power injected into this album than any of their previous releases as it shifts between hard rock anthems and emotionally tied tracks which still don’t lose the overall feel of the album, and only go to prove just how intelligent their lyrics are. As the name implies, every song teaches us the importance of holding on to what really matters, and learning to let go when the thing is harming us. There is a fantastic complexity to the instrumental aspect of this album as well, which you really need a good set of ear buds to truly appreciate as the band has incorporated fine details into the background of each track, such as chiming, that you may otherwise miss. Buy the “Deluxe Edition”, you won’t regret it, especially as most vendors are only charging a couple dollars extra and the bonus tracks aren’t just “there”, they truly do complete the album and feel like they belonged there in the first place (Plus the “Making of“ DVD with included “Country Song” video should be enough on its own to interest most fans). From a technical standpoint the album is nearly perfect in every way, kudos to the entire production team. I could fill up more of the page telling to other reasons why you should buy the album, but I really feel your time is better served by just doing it.

  1. Hello,

My name is Kyle Chambers, I’m a co-founder of emurg.com,
a website dedicated to bringing up and coming bands into the spotlight. We
exclusively review unknown, independent, and new bands in an attempt to
provide bands the push they need to break out into the national music
scene. We are relatively new on the web, but we are excited to say we are
growing faster than we could have hoped! We are looking for established
and talented music reviewers to join us in our endeavor to promote small
but exceptional bands. We came across your website and you caught
our eye as someone we think would fit well with our team.

The emurg process is simple. To promote integrity and trust in the new
music scene we always ask permission to review an album, and do not share
music with anyone unless given explicit permission. Our seasoned staff
reviews the albums and then we promote them through a variety of social
media outlets. We run giveaway contests through these channels so that
eager fans across North America can get a taste of great new music. We are
not here to degrade any band’s music; if we like it we will review it, if
we don’t, we won’t review it.

Please take a moment to check out our site at www.emurg.com. We are
constantly growing and searching for new music. It would be our pleasure
to welcome you as the newest member of our team if you are interested.
Feel free to contact me with any questions, comments, or hopefully to
    accept our offer!

I look forward to hearing from you!
