New Music Review: T.I. - No Mercy

The "King" is back. With the release of his new album "No Mercy" set to release in America tomorrow, the time has come for a good look at his newest installment. The album is indeed filled with apologies for his shortcomings and a promise of changes in his actions. Specifically in the track "Get Back Up" a collaboration with Chris Brown, a choice I believe will not go unnoticed for its irony (no disrespect meant), he points out that while he has made mistakes he never said that he was perfect and people need to realize he is only human. Regardless of how you may feel about him, he has proved that he has lost nothing, and potentially has gained even more talent since he’s been away from the “game”. Overall, what he has in “No Mercy” is a good solid hip-hop album full of fantastic rhymes and beats. The new star-studded tracks sport collaborations from Kanye West, Kid Kudi, Mitchelle'l, Scarface, Chris Brown, Rocko, Eminem, The-Dream, Young Dro, Trey Songz, Pharrell, Drake, Rico Love, and Christina Aguilera. The deluxe edition, which I highly recommend, also features Keri Hilson and Rick Ross. With all of the different artists involved the album could have easily turned into a collection of singles rather than having a natural flow, but it has been arranged well enough to make it feel right. For those of you who pre-ordered the album from iTunes, the exclusive track “Follow Your Dreams” is definitely not the best track on the album but is at least worth a listen as T.I. tries out a slower inspirational track. I’d give it somewhere around 4 ½ out of 5 stars. Check it out. Welcome home T.I., and God Bless. I look forward to many more tracks like these.
